Stefanie Kunkel studied Economics in Dresden and Berlin. During her studies she gained experience in international environmental policy at the United Nations Environment Programme in Geneva, in the European Parliament in Brussels and during a research stay in Tokyo. Moreover, she worked as student assistant at the Chair of Environmental Management of the University of Technology Dresden, at the Wikimedia Deutschland - Association for encouragement of free knowledge. e. V. and a consultancy firm on the evaluation of projects of development cooperation in Berlin, among others. In January 2019 Stefanie joined the RIFS, where she integrates her interest in technological progress as well as environment and development policy into her research work for the project "Digitalisation and Impacts on Sustainability", focusing particularly on the implications of digitalisation for sustainable value creation in countries of the Global South.
