Dr. Martín Fonck is a postdoctoral researcher in the Planetary Geopolitics and Geoengineering group at the IASS Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam. He completed his PhD at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society and the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Munich. His main research interest is the study of narratives and imaginaries of environmental technologies to face the planetary crisis from an ethnographic and historical perspective. Currently, he is writing about the concepts of "energy futures" and "earth archives" based on his research project on geothermal energy in the Chilean Andes. In the research group, he is working on curating transdisciplinary workshops and events, bringing together scholars, scientists, artists, and others interested in the intersection of energy futures, geoscience, and technologies of planetary management.
